A group of friends from the Crowle area are raising money for MIND after taking on the National Three Peaks challenge.

The seven friends, who are aged between 23-33, conquered Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in less than 36 hours, after setting off for the challenge on Saturday, October 2. Ross Sykes was one of the fundraisers taking part in the event and he said the group all feel a “great sense of achievement and accomplishment”. He said: “We hoped to complete the challenge in 24 hours but due to bad weather it ended up being closer to 36. “We still all came away feeling really proud. It took a lot of endurance and it was tough but it was good to do it as a group so we could encourage each other to keep going and we knew it was for an amazing charity too.” The friends say they had been wanting to take on the hiking challenge together for sometime and came up with the idea of using it to raise money for a good cause.

Ross said: “We suggested a few different charities to raise money for, but the work MIND does resonated with a lot of us because everyone knows someone who has suffered with mental health. “We also thought a mental health charity would be really relevant to the Three Peaks Challenge, because getting out and about in the fresh air helps people who are struggling with their mental health so much.” The team originally set a goal of raising £350 but after recently reaching over £1,600, they have upped their goal to £2,000. Ross said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated, the generosity has exceeded all of our expectations.” The JustGiving page will remain open until Monday, October 18, to donate visit: https://bit.ly/3ajcCwB
